Fellow CartoPhilatelic Society member Bob Lamb has been named the 2016 American Topical Association’s Distinguished Topical Philatelist! The Distinguished Topical Philatelist is a “ very special honor bestowed upon a person who has made significant contributions to topical philately and the ATA in particular.” Bob has been active in the American Topical Association (ATA) and other philatelic endeavors including serving as the Executive Director of the American Philatelic Society (APS) and is currently a Director of the ATA. His articles are printed monthly in the APS – American Philatelist. Bob is present at almost all APS and ATA shows and is accessible and gracious in sharing his vast knowledge of philately. More information on Bob’s award is contained in the May-June 2016 (v67 #3) issue of Topical Time. Please join us in congratulating Bob on this outstanding recognition! On May 29th the 6th Meeting of the CartoPhilatelic Society will be held from 10:30 am until 12:00pm in Room 1E11. A tentative agenda for the meeting is shown below.

The CartoPhilatelic Society will be attending the World Stamp Show 2016 being held in New York City, May 28 through June 4, 2016. Please check the more detailed announcement now available on our Events page. Our dedicated treasurer for the past five years, and long time CartoPhilatelic Society member, Ed Vallery has retired from his position. Fellow member and Representative at Large Phil Coop will be taking over as Society Treasurer. Over the years Ed’s diligence in reaching out to members regarding their dues payments has been very beneficial to the continued strength of our Society. An avid golfer, Ed will will have more time now to spend with his family and concentrate on golf and cartophilately. Thank you for your service to the Society Ed and we look forward to hearing from you as a continuing member. We extend our thanks also to Phil for taking over the reigns in this new position.  ATA 65th NTSS 2014 Logo At the American Topical Association’s 65th National Topical Stamp Show (NTSS) [St. Louis Missouri, USA] held in June 2014, The New CartoPhilatelist was awarded the prestigious Gold Medal in the Medium Study Units (50-200 members) class. In addition, TNCP received the Grand Prize as the best of the 10 journals entered in this category. The award was presented at the banquet dinner to our Journal’s editor Mr. Martin Oakes who was joined at the ceremony by Society Vice-President David Wolfersberger and Society President Emeritus Miklos Pinther. “This award is not only proof of Martin’s dedication and effort towards producing each issue, but also the high level of research and attention to detail evident in the articles and content submitted by the authors. This is a wonderful recognition for the Society,” said CPS President Mark Honig. “Congratulations to everyone over the years who have helped put The New CartoPhilatelist on the philatelic literature world map!”
